Playing Catch Up - May

Ok, so I've done nothing with this blog since the beginning of summer.  Now it's time to catch up.  I took over 1300 pictures this summer, so to keep myself from going insane trying to go through them all, and to keep this blog post from becoming the longest one ever, I'll just catch up little by little.

We left Angola at the end of May and headed back to Texas for the summer.  But before we left, Colson had her last day of school.

We had intended to leave Angola in June, but the kids and I had to move up our flight a little bit as Jon and I decided to purchase a house back in Texas and I had to go home to be there for the closing.  I do love our new home, but trying to purchase a home in the States from Angola is super difficult!  Anyway, Jon had to remain in Angola, so I flew home with the kids by myself.  The kids did amazing though.  The flight leaves at 10 pm, so Connor slept for all of the 15 hour flight except for about 2 hours.  It could not have gone better.  And my sister was waiting for us at the airport to drive us to Longview!

 Waiting to board the flight.

That mark across his forehead is from him hitting a luggage cart with this face after spinning in circles.  I was so thankful it only resulted in a bruise!

Once we arrived in Texas, we had Chick Fil A for lunch and headed to Longview.  Man that chicken sandwich and Diet DP was amazing.  It was great to be back in Texas!!

The summer started with a few days at Grandmom's in Longview.  The kids loved wearing her shoes - especially her boots.

Then Connor found his own boots.  Both of the kids loved getting to play outside!!  They get to play outside in Luanda, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely not the same.

Connor loves the fire pit rocks.  Much to my mother's dismay....

Colson is wearing a dress while she plays outside.  Shocking, I know.

Well that sums up May.  In June the kids got to do lots of fun stuff while Jon and I went to Italy for 2 weeks.  Yes, 2 weeks in Italy sans kids.  But that will be another post.
